Dr. Marat Kashenov, a neurosurgeon from Almaty, Kazakhstan was awarded $2000 to attend a Cervical Spinal Continuing Medical Education course at St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO. Dr. Marat distinguished himself in the course successfully completing a difficult procedure that others were not able to accomplish. When back in Kazakhstan, Dr. Marat, a member of the Lutheran Church in Almaty, will share the knowledge he has learned with fellow colleuges in the Neurosurgery Department of his hospital. Dr. Marat and his wife Amy Hartwig Kashenov, LCMS missionary in Kazakhstan, are currently visiting in St. Louis.
