LIMM Awards Travel Grant to Rose Howard, Parish Nurse

By February 10, 2018 No Comments
Due to the generosity of our donors, LIMM is once again able to partner with Lutheran Parish Nurses International (LPNI), by awarding a travel grant to Parish Nurse Rose Howard of Adelaide, Australia, enabling her to attend the study tour this year. Rose is a retired nurse who continues to serve as a “pastoral care health worker” in her congregation. Rose also serves as an officer for the Lutheran Nurses of Australia.

The study tour is planned for Sept. 13 – 20, and will be held in Canada. Past tours have included Palestine (Bethlehem), Australia, Finland, the USA, Germany, New Zealand, Brazil and England. The object of these tours is to enable participants to learn something about the Lutheran church in the countries visited, about Parish Nursing in the country, additional aspects that may be of interest to nurses, and to network with people in similar roles and learn from each other. Each tour includes worship, seminars, on-site visits, and informal discussions. These tours help promote socio-cultural awareness.

Rose will be able to share her experience with other parish nurses in the Lutheran Church Australia and utilize the information gained to review and renew her parish health ministry in her congregation. We will be posting updates from Rose to share with you later this year.
