Dear Friends at Lutherans in Medical Missions,
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” Philippians 1:3-5
I am truly thankful to God for the ministry and partnership of Lutherans in Medical Missions. Your continued prayers and support are an ongoing blessing to the LCMS Mercy Medical Team program, as we work together to bring Christ’s love and healing to our brothers and sisters all over the world.
Thank you for the recent $2000 grant for travel scholarships for MMT participants. The funds will be used this November, as we partner with Concordia University Irvine to bring several nursing students to Madagascar. The students will be staying at the Lutheran Hospital in Antsirabe, where they will work in the hospital beside the Malagasy nurses, provide primary care to patients through rural mobile medical clinics, and lead community health education classes.
Participation in a Mercy Medical Team provides a greater understanding of vocation as a calling, as students discover that their vocational gifts can be used to serve God both in the United States and around the world. Unfortunately, the financial commitment of higher education often prevents students from participating. Your grant will help the students gain an understanding of the global body of Christ while creating a broad world view which will serve them throughout their vocational life.
