LMI Luncheon – February 2012

On February 2, 2012 Lutherans in Medical Missions hosted a luncheon at the Pasta House in St. Louis. Twenty-two area pastors and lay people attended. Rev. Michael Okine, pastor at Messiah Lutheran Church, St. Louis shared a personal reflection of the effect of malaria as he was growing up in Ghana. Rev. Gary Schulte, pastor at Zion, Hillsboro, MO, told about his experience with malaria contract while he was a missionary in West Africa. Martha Mitkos, Director, Lutheran Malaria Initiative for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, gave an introduction to the materials that are available for use in congregations to raise awareness of the scourge of malaria in sub-Sahara Africa. The luncheon was made possible by a grant from The Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis.
